Planter in the Spanish Garden Inn Courtyard

Planter in the Spanish Garden Inn Courtyard

A planter hanging on the beautiful interior courtyard of the Spanish Garden Inn in Santa Barbara, California

While planning our trip to California I spent quite a bit of time looking at great, unique hotels for our family to visit. Although there are a plethora of options in Santa Barbara one hotel stood out above the rest for our needs, the Spanish Garden Inn. Sometimes reality doesn’t live up to our expectations but in this case our expectations were not only met but exceeded.

One of my favorite features of the Spanish Garden Inn was its breakfast and the dining location options open to us. We could have eaten in our room, in the small breakfast area, or in the courtyard of the hotel. As is usually the case, the weather in Santa Barbara cooperated and eating outdoors each morning was an option. It was awesome to be able to enjoy a delicious breakfast while also enjoying the wonderful Santa Barbara weather.

While eating one day I began to notice the native plants that were growing in the planters surrounding the courtyard. I’m not a gardener so I don’t know the name of each of the succulents I was enjoying, but I could tell that they would make wonderful photography subjects. I liked this arrangement in particular with the interesting mix of textures, colors, and the rusted planter the cacti were hanging in. I hope you enjoy them as well.
