One of the benefits of being out for sunrise and sunset is that the light during those golden hours creates all sorts of images that just aren’t as appealing at other times of the day. That’s the case with these two shots of cloud details. While I was waiting for the sun to set, the reflected light of the setting sun created some really cool texture in the clouds overhead. The same clouds had blocked the sun for most of the afternoon and I wondered if there would even be a great sunset. Fortunately, my concerns were unfounded. In fact, the changing conditions yielded lots of incredible images during the last hour or so of the day.
I’m not sure what type of clouds these were, but they were certainly beautiful. The texture and soft lighting created a whole sky full of abstract photo opportunities. From the dozen or so images that I shot, I picked these two. The texture, contrast, and color of each makes for a beautiful abstract that I might not otherwise identify as clouds. Enjoy.
