Hills of Gold

Hills of Gold

Soft early morning light illuminates fall foliage in the Tennessee foothills

It seems odd to look on this scene in the depths of winter. As I look outside my home office, yet another dreary rainy day has descended on the Atlanta suburbs. This image was taken last fall at the dawn of a beautiful crisp day in the Smokies. As the sun rose over the mountains, the hills were covered with the beautiful soft, golden light of a new day. The fall foliage was already colorful, but the early morning light added even more drama and beauty to the already spectacular landscape. I’m looking forward to spring, but I must say I’m already looking forward to fall as well. There’s something about the color in the landscape of fall that just can’t be matched. Enjoy.
